  • Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and upgrades on test stands, furnaces, fixtures, and associated mechanical, electrical, thermal, and fluid systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, instrumentation issues, and process instability, exercising technical judgment to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions within established procedures.
  • Execute, fabricate, modify, and refine production jigs, fixtures, tooling, and test hardware by applying established engineering principles, in collaboration with engineering staff.
  • Participate in and support the commissioning of new equipment and processes, including mechanical build‑out, installation, shakedown testing, and preparation of technical documentation, working within defined procedures and under appropriate technical oversight.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, quality, and productivity, and proactively propose and implement practical improvements.
  • Support stack build and non‑repeat component fabrication activities as required to meet development and production schedules.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate technical records for maintenance activities, test execution, equipment changes, deviations, and issues encountered.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company safety, quality, and documentation requirements, including the consistent use of required PPE and adherence to safe work practices.

Education & Qualifications

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Electrical, or similar) or demonstrated similar experience.
  • Eligibility or current registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with APEGA is considered an asset.

Experience

  • Seeking candidates with 2–8 years of experience in a production, test, laboratory, pilot‑manufacturing, or industrial equipment environment.
  • Exposure to R&D and pilot manufacturing environments is an asset

Ideal candidate must have:

  • Strong hands‑on aptitude and comfort working directly with hardware on the shop floor and in laboratory or pilot‑manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment, instrumentation, and process issues under real operating constraints.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Experience fabricating, modifying, or assembling jigs, fixtures, and test hardware.
  • Organized and detail‑oriented, with clear documentation and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working closely with engineers, technologists, production staff, and external vendors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CAD, data acquisition, or test software is an asset.
