The pay for this position ranges from $90,000 - $103,000.

 

 

Overview:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, forward-thinking electrical engineer to join the Engineering group.

 

Responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for designing, evaluating and supporting fuel cell-based systems for power generation.   This position requires flexibility to work on multiple projects, covering a range of systems and technologies, in various stages of the design or validation process.

  • Designs, evaluates, and supports electrical systems and equipment used for power generation and voltage conversion including inverters.
  • Develops engineering drawings including electrical one-line and three-line diagrams, cable and conduit schedules, and equipment wiring diagrams.
  • Performs analyses and/or calculations to determine component requirements and routing for electrical equipment including but not limited to cables, breakers, transformers, and conduits.
  • Develops and documents specifications, installation requirements and procedures and maintenance requirements and procedures for electrical systems and equipment.
  • Specifies and/or performs arc flash analyses.
  • Prepares documentation and records of verification and validation for new product design and engineering changes to existing products.
  • Evaluates existing electrical components, systems, and processes and leads and or supports root cause investigations to address performance, reliability, and equipment life shortfalls.  
  • Recommends or selects components and equipment based on system and component specifications.
  • Analyze and interpret data from electrical system normal operation or transients and make recommendations to improve performance, reliability, and life.
  • Configures and programs electrical devices such as variable frequency drives.
  • Provides engineering support to service personnel and provides regular on-call support per team plan.
  • Other projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Education:  B.S. in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline

Experience:   Minimum of 3 years of applicable commercial work experience with power systems, clean energy, commercial electrical or facility support; or related work in a formal engineering environment. 

 

Candidate must have demonstrable knowledge/experience in:

  • Electrical Equipment Bid Packages
  • Electrical Systems Design: Single Line & Three Line Drawings, Wiring & Interconnect Drawings, Electrical Layouts & Details, Power Distribution Drawings, Panel Layout & Design Drawings, Arc Flash Safety and Calculations
  • Power Metering and Controls
  • National Electrical Code and Safety Standards, UL 1741, IEEE 1547, and NFPA 70 & 79
  • Engineering Documentation Processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work physically in the office environment, lab environment and in the field
  • Walking/standing/working in an office, lab, fabrication area, or designated installation site environment
  • Periodic work outdoors in a power plant environment during commissioning activities.
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs., utilizing both hands simultaneously, utilizing hand tools, test equipment
  • Be able and willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respirator, and other PPE as required.
  • Travel:  up to 15% domestic or international
  • Have or be able to obtain a Passport
