Warehouse Supervisor (Second Shift)
Position Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor – 2nd Shift is responsible for leading and coordinating all warehouse operations during the evening shift at FuelCell Energy’s Torrington facility. This role oversees a team of warehouse associates, ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate receiving, staging, inventory management, and shipping of fuel cell components.
The supervisor ensures compliance with OSHA safety standards, company quality policies (including GMP/ISO), and 7S/5S housekeeping practices while driving continuous improvement in productivity and inventory accuracy. They serve as the primary point of contact for shift operations, collaborate with day-shift leadership and cross-functional teams, and maintain strong performance through coaching, training, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Supervise daily 2nd shift warehouse activities; receiving, put-away, picking, staging, and shipping.
- Prepare shift schedules and assign tasks to meet production and delivery deadlines.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies using D365 ERP system
- Ensure proper handling, storage and documentation of components and mechanical equipment.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and train warehouse associates; conduct performance reviews
- Foster a positive, collaborative team environment with strong attendance and accountability
- Resolve conflicts, address performance issues, and recommend hiring/promotions
Safety and Compliance
- Enforce OSHA safety standards, 7S/5S housekeeping, and PPE compliance
- Investigate incidents/accidents; prepare reports and implement corrective actions
- Maintain a safety-first culture; ensure all associates follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to boost productivity, reduce waste, and enhance quality
- Collaborate with Logistics, Production, and Quality teams to optimize material flow
- Support Lean, Six Sigma, or ISO initiatives as applicable
Administrative Duties
- Track attendance, tardiness, overtime, and payroll records
- Communicate shift status, issues, and achievements to day-shift leadership and Senior Manager
- Ensure accurate completion of shipping/receiving paperwork and system transactions

- Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of business or technical support or production team

- Typically, does not spend more than 20% of time performing the work supervised
Education and Experience
Required
- 2+ years of warehouse operations experience (manufacturing or energy sector preferred)
- 1–2 years of supervisory or team-lead experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and computerized barcode scanners
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including planned/unplanned overtime and weekends
- Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, bend, climb, push/pull
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field / Relevant work experience
- Experience in ISO 9001, AS9100, or clean-energy/manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma, WMS/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Forklift certification or experience with powered industrial trucks
